Gentlemen,
WE, the undersigned ratepayers in the district, humble petition your committee in favour of the appointment of Mr James Silver, Blairs, Maryculter, as road-surveyor for the district.
We are confident that by his knowledge & experience on Road Matters, he is pre-eminently qualified for the office; & we trust this petition will receive your favourable consideration

"To the memory of JAMES S. SILVER who died at Sunnyside Blairs, Maryculter November 1903, aged 71 years. And his wife MARY ANN FALCONER, who died 30th March 1919, aged 86 years. Also their eldest son JAMES, who died at Denver, Colorado, USA, 5th[?] March 1914, aged 54 years. Also their younger daughter JESSIE MENZIES, wife of THOMAS KAMESTER, who died 24th October 1931, aged 67 years." (these two weren't buried in Scotland but names recorded on the stone)<br><hr>
